Langer Heinrich Uranium - Namibia
The company was awarded to design and supply two 35m counter current decantation (CCD) thickeners for Namibian uranium mine, Langer Heinrich for its Phase 3 expansion project.

The tanks are due to leave the workshop for delivery in the next few of weeks. This is Roytec's first thickener contract with the client, although it did previously supply the fixed bed ion exchange circuit and the large volume segmented tanks for the same project. The project consists of the supply of the thickener tanks, hydraulically driven high torque drive mechanisms, rake arms, rake blades, high rate feedwell, agitated feed tanks and pumped feed dilution mechanism.

Optimum Colliery - South Africa
Also recent, Roytec SA is supplying a 4mē Vacuum Belt Filter (VBF) to Keyplan for the company's Optimum Colliery high recovery desalination process (HiPRO) plant for Acid Mine Drainage (AMD). AMD are waters arising from gold, coal, uranium and platinum mine operations and is a major threat to the environment.

The VBF will be used to dewater the precipitated gypsum from the treatment process prior to final recovery. The plant is currently under construction in the Middelburg area with commissioning expected in the later part of 2010.

BBBEE Rating
We have for several years now implemented a Black Economic Empowerment Policy to promote entrepreneurial communities and give emerging businesses access to mainstream business opportunities. We concentrate our empowerment efforts on suppliers of goods and services in the manufacturing, construction and consumables sectors. Roymec Technologies management is actively committed to enforcing this policy and provides both input and resources into this endeavor

More recently we have completed a stringent internal self audit process for which we have scored within the current BBBEE requirements as set by the Mining Charter and the Minerals and Petroleum Resources Act.

To formalize the rating level we have subsequently employed an independent transformation/rating company to assist with further improving our rating score and processes within the next financial year. We are looking to make improvements in areas such as socio-economic, enterprise and skills development.

Segmented Tanks
Roymec highlights the supply of the large volume segmented tanks for the Langer Heinrich Uranium project in Namibia. The benefits for the segmented tank concept are particular for remote sites in that they are extremely cost effective, delivered to site in pre-packed pallets and are installed in a third of the time compared to welded tanks. In addition cranage and scaffolding are not necessary since the tanks are light weight and can be picked up by a telescopic loader.
